One type is talk therapy, which is known as conversation therapy. With this, you will sit down with your counselor and talk about your life to try to understand why you are feeling depressed. You may be surprised at what you find out about yourself during this treatment.
Another type of treatment is electric current treatment. During the therapy, chemicals are released inside your brain. This helps the nerves in your brain to communicate to each other much better, which helps with depression. This treatment is only used for people that have severe depression.
Your doctor may prescribe medication to help relieve your symptoms. In most cases, this will not work well by itself and you need to use other forms of treatment along with the medication. The doctor will start you on a low dose and slowly raise the level until you start feeling better.
