About Me
Benefitting From Counseling

Unfortunately, I had a pretty traumatic childhood. My parents were always fighting, and I was faced with trying to decide what to do about my own personal feelings. When I got older, I knew that I needed to do something to relieve the stress that I was feeling even many years later, so I started focusing on going to counseling. My first few appointments were a little nerve-racking, but the counselor worked hard to make me feel comfortable. I was really impressed with how gentle and kind she was, and I felt really great about the progress I was making. This blog is all about benefiting from counseling.

Not Ready For Inpatient Care? How Partial Hospitalization Programs Can Help

Ron Henry

If you struggle with mental health issues like depression or anxiety, there may come a time in your life in which you need help dealing with your conditions. It can be difficult, and sometimes even impossible, to do alone. As such, you have to decide what kind of help you are going to get. Weekly counseling and monthly psychiatry appointments are one option, but what about times you need more help? And what if you aren't able to go into inpatient care? Well, one option is a partial hospitalization program (PHP). Before you decide on the care you receive, get to know some of the ways partial hospitalization programs can help you. Then, you can be sure you make the right mental health care choice for you.

PHP Services Are Intensive Services

There is a difference between standard outpatient care and intensive outpatient care. Intensive care is more involved, requires longer hours per week, and generally involves multiple group and individual therapy sessions in a single day. This intensive therapy allows you to get the most assistance. You will be able to get a great deal of therapy in a short period of time. You can also learn coping strategies and be able to implement them in your life right away.

PHP Services Combine Counseling and Psychiatric Services

You will likely want to get the most out of the program you choose if you are struggling with mental health concerns. One of the great things about PHP services is that they offer a combination of counseling and psychiatric services.

Throughout your time in a PHP program, you will have multiple group therapy and counseling sessions. You may see a therapist or social worker individually as well. Then, usually once a day, you will see a psychiatric care provider to discuss how you are doing and to make any necessary adjustments to your medications.

This care will ensure that everything that can be done to improve your mental health is being done. You will come out of the program with plans for your medication management as well as with coping strategies and a better understanding of what is going on with your mental health. This is all invaluable toward managing your mental health conditions.

Now that you know how PHP services can help with your mental health, you can be sure to get registered for a program. For more information about PHP services, contact a treatment facility.
